I made a horrible mistake in the last issue of this magazine and said that we were expecting a talk on backpacking in New Zealand. However, that is, in fact, happening at the July meeting and we had instead a visit from David Fry, a town crier from Kingswood in South Gloucestershire.
He had a tremendous voice and a very loud bell and I am sure that he could be heard all over the village. He was a very entertaining speaker and only managed to relate the beginnings of his career. He will be returning to tell us more.
Hopefully, elsewhere in the magazine there is more information about the Silent Auction that members are hoping to hold on Saturday October 5th in aid of the Air Ambulance.
We congratulate Valerie Cox and Marion Hulance who both took part in the Race for Life on the sands at Weston-S-Mare. It is not easy running on sand and they both completed the course.
