Gerry Watkins came to our April meeting with three helpers and eight greyhounds. They were all so good – the only sounds we heard from them were when we started to sing Jerusalem! Many of them had been abused in their former lives and they must have thought life had taken a turn for the worse again.
Greyhounds are such gentle animals and seem to bear no malice towards humans after the bad treatment they have had. Most have been racing dogs in Ireland or traveller’s dogs.
It was decided that the outing in August should be to Coldharbour Mill near Tiverton in Devon. When all the details have been worked out we will publish them and invite visitors.
At the May meeting Mrs. Pritchard from the Friends of the Bristol Oncology Unit will come to tell us about the latest appeal and the equipment that they hope to buy with it. If you have received treatment, or know someone who has reason to be grateful for the wonderful work that they do, please come along on Wednesday 8th May at 7.30 p.m. We will be delighted to see you.
