An horrendous accident on the M5 north of Bristol meant that our speaker, Kath, never made it to the January meeting of the Kenn W.I. Instead she spent the evening caught up in traffic on the Downs until we told her to go home and make herself a cup of tea and that we would be delighted to see her at a future date.
No such problem will exist at the February meeting as our speaker Bryan Thompson only has to make his way a few yards along Kenn Street from his home to the Village Hall. He is coming to talk to us about Bardsey Island, a bird sanctuary off the Welsh coast. It will be a most interesting talk and if you would like to hear him please come along to the Hall on Wednesday 13th February at 7.30 p.m. We will all be delighted to see you.
In the absence of the speaker members spent a very happy evening drinking tea and catching up with each other after Christmas. Kenn W.I. will be celebrating its 60th birthday this year so some of the time was spent considering some of the things we might do to mark it and to raise money for our chosen charity the Air Ambulance.
Another scrapbook is one of the things we shall do so material is already being collected. It will be nice to make it a record of village life during the year so any photos or memorabilia of any village event will be gratefully received.
